SCFR Piano Recital
Stoutonia Vol. 103, No. 13 (April 18, 2013)
Stout Council on Family Relations, an organization comprised of students in the Human Development and Family Studies major, frequently volunteers in the community in a variety of different ways.

On Wednesday, April 17, Erika Werner, a junior and member of SCFR, helped with a piano recital.

“I teach piano lessons to children in the Menomonie area,” said Werner. “We thought it would be a fun idea to have SCFR throw them a recital.”

Werner has a history with piano and is passionate about what she does.

“I started teaching piano because my mom is a piano teacher, and I have been playing since I was five years old,” Werner explains. “I also love children, so it was another reason I wanted to teach. The students I teach range from seven years old to 12 years old.”

The Stout Council on Family Relations piano recital took place at God’s Church and was free to the public.
From making Valentine’s day cards for the elderly in nursing homes to spending time with adolescent children, this group of University of Wisconsin-Stout students does their part to help others around Menomonie, Wis.
